Welcome back to another Ridebyshots.com blog, and this week I caught up with Kylan Shuttlewood to discuss his Season with the Rokit Rookies, his previous race achievements and his hopes for 2026.

“Something in me did not want to give up… was unwilling to let go and wanted to fight to the very end”
Yann Martel - Life of Pi.
Being carried away from Stirling’s Bend on a stretcher was not the way Kylan’s season was supposed to end. 2025 had delivered progress and podium success, so much so that he was invited to compete in the final round of the BMW F900R Cup in mid October. The crash - which happened when Kylan was set for a points scoring finish - led to a trip to hospital and surgery on a broken femur. A cruel blow, but fast forward a few short weeks and, remarkably, Kylan is already several gym sessions into his rehabilitation. Just to clarify - he broke his femur!!!
“I’m too impatient - I just want to get back on already” said Kylan.

Prior to the BMW F900R outing, Kylan had spent the season competing in the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki British Superteen Championship and with some notable success, securing podiums at Snetterton in June and at the final round at Oulton Park in October.
He finished seventh overall in a very competitive championship, an excellent achievement in his first full time season at British championship level.
Starting Out
Kylan completed his ACU Race License in April 2021, he had only ridden a pit bike at this point and had no race experience and was “chucked straight into the deep end” on his Yamaha R3.
Kylan competed in the NGRRC Club Championships over the next few years, where he claimed the 500cc Newcomers Title in 2023.

A British Junior Supersport Wildcard at Donington Park in July ‘23 was the start of the step up to National level and was followed by another wildcard appearance in May ‘24 in the Kawasaki Superteen Championship. Kylan then Joined the ROKIT Rookies Rider Development programme in July ‘24, which prepared him well for moving into the championship full time this year.

I asked Kylan who has been the biggest influence on his racing?
“My Dad, as he pushes everything to get the best for me in my racing, and has taught me a lot. Also Leon and Ron Haslam, due to the help and coaching they have given me over the last year and a half.”
And what about career highlights?
“Definitely my two podiums this year at BSB”
No surprises there, and also the reason Kylan chooses Oulton Park and Snetterton has his favourite circuits.

What's Next?
Kylan is busy looking for sponsorship for 2026 and will be sharing more news of his plans for next season at Motorcycle Live next week. I asked what the ideal scenario is for 2026? “Riding for the ROKIT Rookies, get the bike set up nicely and win the Championship” Said Kylan, clearly determined to fight to the very end as is the Life of Ky way.
Kylan wanted to thank his sponsors.

A big thank you to Kylan for his time and for looking out for me when he pulls his trademark post race wheelies. I wish him a full recovery and every success next season and beyond.
