Welcome to another Ridebyshots.com blog, thank you to everyone who took time to give my Winter Blues blog a read, again I'm looking back at the 2023 Season with a countdown of my 5 favourite shots of the year.

No.5 - Joe Yeardsley

Let's get started with 2023 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner, Joe Yeardsley. Joe did a couple of Wirral 100 rounds during the '23 season and I initially photographed him on his Yamaha R6 in March. I followed his season closely thereafter and it was great to see him turn out on the Kawasaki ZXR750 at Anglesey in July.

How good does the bike look here? A definite classic.

No.4 - Peter Hickman

My fourth place goes to another Isle of Man winner. This time it's TT 2023 Senior winner Peter Hickman and what a season Hicky had on the Roads with a win at the Macau Grand Prix also.

I like going to Hilltop at Oulton Park to get the wheelie shots at the end of a Practice or Qualifying Session and the sun certainly shone on me here. I like the shadow cast across the track and though the harsh sunlight did make it tricky to shoot this I'm pleased with it anyway.

No.3 - Dave Mackay

There are a couple of reasons that I'm pleased with my next shot of Dave Mackay, firstly because as soon as I saw Dave's name on the NGRRC Entry List I knew there would be a good chance of getting this picture as Dave is a wheelie wizard, I do love it when a plan comes together.

Secondly Dave was kind enough to send me a message on Twitter or X (who knows what to call it?) He said that it's one of his favourite parts of Trac Mon to pop a wheelie up so I was glad I set myself up there for that race. Thank you Mr Mackay - a True Hero indeed and a brilliant photographer too. Give him a follow Twitter.com/davemackay17

No.2 - Davey Todd

I love this shot. Davey Todd rolling out of pit lane at Oulton Park for FP1 with the admiring eyes of the opposition from Tag Honda on him and his girlfriend Abbie recording for his Youtube Blog in the background also. I posted this as an Instagram story with "I can't take my eyes off you" by Andy Williams as the accompanying song, I think it still sums up the scene perfectly.... Cue the music... We love you Davey!!!

No.1 - Michael Sweeney

This is my favourite shot from the season. I love the style from Michael Sweeney, on one wheel driving out of the corner. This was taken in September at the Wirral 100 Anglesey Grand meeting and that is relevant when you realise the injuries Michael suffered at the North West 200 meeting just four months earlier.

A broken back, a dislocated knee, broken ribs, broken collarbone and a bruised lung!!!! I'd need four years off! They build them tough in Skerries.

There we have it, my top 5 shots of the 2023 season. Thanks once again for reading, please feel free to leave a comment, question or suggestions for future blogs.
