If you grew up in the Eighties you will be well aware of SuperTed, the anthropomorphic super hero teddy bear created in Wales and keeping children everywhere safe from Texas Pete with the help of his pal Spotty. If however you are too young to have seen this classic kids TV then don't worry (you can still watch it on Youtube) and it isn't that SuperTed I shot anyway.

Fast forward to Anglesey Circuit in 2023, I was shooting the Wirral 100 meeting in July when a black Kawasaki came speeding past me into the Banking. The rider took the corner with great style and speed - Who was that? Well that was Ted Wilkinson - SuperTed 2.0.
I will admit I should have known about Ted before July '23. He was British Flat Track Champion three times, raced in the British Talent Cup in 2022 and made his Debut in the highly competitive British Junior Superport Championship as a Wildcard at Knockhill last June. Ted has had some excellent results throughout the season with more to come in 2024.
I caught up with Ted this week to ask what his highlight of the '23 season was and what he's got planned for next year.
"My 2023 season highlight would have to be winning my first ever Junior Super Sport race at my home track Oulton Park" and what a win, after a race-long scrap with the tenacious Chloe Jones in worsening weather conditions. It was the final season of the Junior Super Sport Class which leads us nicely on to 2024.
SuperTed to Superteens
Ted's preparations for the new year and the new season are well underway. He said "Winter testing is going very well, taking trips to Spain riding my Yamaha R6, and riding as often as I can on pit bikes in the UK." The sunshine of Almeria being a lot more useful than the frozen UK tracks. "I've been training hard, on and off the bike to make sure I can be the best I can for the 2024 season" continued a determined sounding Ted.

The new season will bring a new challenge, and Ted has confirmed he will be competing in the new Kawasaki British Superteens Championship riding the Fire Place New Mills ZXR4RR. I'm sure we are all looking forward to that.
It goes without saying that none of the above is possible without a great team, sponsors and supporters. Ted wanted to say a huge thanks to the RMB Racing team for helping achieve a win, many podiums and a lap record.
Special thanks to.

I'd like to thank Ted for taking the time to answer my questions this week and wish him all the best for the next stage in his racing career. I think his talent and determination to be the "best I can" will see him succeed for sure.
